Lab results have come back ALL CLEAR from the sampling carried out Saturday 20 April for E.coli and Total Coliforms.

Follow up results show no presence of e.coli. However, we will continue to take samples over the next three days.
Routine water quality testing results on Friday indicated the presence of e.coli at Naenae reservoir. We took further samples on Friday, in the network and at the reservoir, these samples have come back from the lab as clear (no presence of e.coli).
Following additional treatment of the water (on Friday) residents in the Lower Hutt may continue to notice an increased taste and odour of chlorine in their drinking water over the next couple of days.
Standard procedure in such cases is to either isolate the reservoir, or increase the level of chlorination at the reservoir, and carry out further testing of the affected area of the network.
The presence of e.coli is an indicator of possible contamination. Over the next three days we’ll continue to test at various locations to ensure safe water.

Lower Hutt residents may notice an increase in the taste and odour of chlorine in their drinking water over the next couple of days, Wellington Water advises.
Routine water quality testing results on Friday indicated the presence of e.coli at Naenae reservoir. Standard procedures in such cases include isolating the reservoir and/or increasing the level of chlorination, and carrying out further testing of the affected area of the network.
The presence of e.coli is an indicator of possible contamination. Residents may wish to boil water before drinking it as an extra precaution, although at this stage this is not a requirement. Anyone experiencing nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea should seek medical advice from their GP, after hours medical centre, or call the Ministry of Health Healthline, 0800 611 116.
An update will be provided on the Wellington Water website and Facebook page on Saturday 20 April at 3pm.
Stokes Valley and Wainuiomata will not be affected.
