EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
While repairs were underway, crews discovered an additional crack in the pipeline. This needs to be fixed safely before water can be restored, which has extended the outage.

We acknowledge the disruption this has caused and are working at pace to resolve this. Water tankers are on site for essential needs at 45 Connaught Street. We'll have staff door knocking and arranging for bottled water to be delivered to homes if necessary.

Portaloos have been arranged and will be onsite at approximately 7 pm. Addresses to be notified.

Thank you for your patience — we know this is a difficult time of day to be without water, and we really appreciate your understanding

Our team is working as quickly as possible, and we’ll update you again as soon as water restoration is close. Further updates will be provided as we progress with the repair.

Wellington metropolitan region returning to Level 1 water restrictions today

A wet summer in the Wellington region is good news with storage lakes at full capacity and river sources at healthy levels says Wellington Water.

Heading into Autumn, a long dry period is unlikely so a move back to Level 1 water restrictions is a logical decision says Laurence Edwards, Chief Advisor Drinking Water.

“While we are in a good state, it is important residents and businesses continue to be mindful of their water use. Consumption remains at historically high-levels due to population growth and high-water loss through leaks.

“Wellington Water will continue to work with councils to reduce the number of leaks in the network.  We ask the public to play their part in helping manage the region’s high-water consumption by following water restriction Level 1,” says Mr Edwards.

Under Level 1, residents living in an even numbered house, can use sprinklers or irrigation systems only on even numbered days between 6-8am and 7-9pm. If you live in an odd numbered house, the same rules apply for odd numbered days.

  • Residential Water restriction Level 1 applies all year round for Upper Hutt and South Wairarapa (Martinborough, Greytown and Featherston).
  • Level 1 applies during Daylight Saving months (September - April) for Lower Hutt, Wellington City and Porirua.
  • You can use handheld watering devices any time, on any day, so long as you don’t leave them unattended.
