EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
While repairs were underway, crews discovered an additional crack in the pipeline. This needs to be fixed safely before water can be restored, which has extended the outage.

We acknowledge the disruption this has caused and are working at pace to resolve this. Water tankers are on site for essential needs at 45 Connaught Street. We'll have staff door knocking and arranging for bottled water to be delivered to homes if necessary.

Portaloos have been arranged and will be onsite at approximately 7 pm. Addresses to be notified.

Thank you for your patience — we know this is a difficult time of day to be without water, and we really appreciate your understanding

Our team is working as quickly as possible, and we’ll update you again as soon as water restoration is close. Further updates will be provided as we progress with the repair.

Media release: Water restrictions eased across metropolitan Wellington and South Wairarapa

Watering restrictions across metropolitan Wellington and South Wairarapa have been eased and regular watering may resume from Tuesday 13 April 2021.

This means that sprinklers and irrigation systems may now be used in Lower Hutt, Porirua, and Wellington cities.

In Upper Hutt and South Wairarapa regular alternate day, odd-even watering still applies as it does all year round. However, with sporadic rain in the forecast, residents are requested to be mindful of their water use as we transition into the winter period.

“Community action in limiting water use, paired with the hot summer peak use period coming to an end, means we are confident about removing watering restrictions across the region” says Laurence Edwards, Chief Advisor Drinking Water.

“However we are reminding people to be mindful of their consumption as the water levels in the aquifers, rivers and lakes recover. We encourage everyone to be considerate in their water use.”
