EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
While repairs were underway, crews discovered an additional crack in the pipeline. This needs to be fixed safely before water can be restored, which has extended the outage.

We acknowledge the disruption this has caused and are working at pace to resolve this. Water tankers are on site for essential needs at 45 Connaught Street. We'll have staff door knocking and arranging for bottled water to be delivered to homes if necessary.

Portaloos have been arranged and will be onsite at approximately 7 pm. Addresses to be notified.

Thank you for your patience — we know this is a difficult time of day to be without water, and we really appreciate your understanding

Our team is working as quickly as possible, and we’ll update you again as soon as water restoration is close. Further updates will be provided as we progress with the repair.

Water restrictions on water races

Following the recent warm and dry weather and a significant drop in river levels, restrictions have been placed on the water takes from the Waiohine River.

As a result of restrictions on the water race take, property owners with water races, particularly in and around Greytown, will notice a decreased flow and in some cases no flow at all. The water races in South Wairarapa divert water from the Waiohine and Tauherenikau rivers to provide livestock in surrounding farmlands with drinking water.

While water restrictions are in place, Wellington Water, on behalf of South Wairarapa District Council, is diverting some water from the Greytown urban supply to the rural supply. Unfortunately, until there is sufficient rain to top up our river levels, these restrictions will remain.
