EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
EXTENDED WATER OUTAGE - BROOKLYN
While repairs were underway, crews discovered an additional crack in the pipeline. This needs to be fixed safely before water can be restored, which has extended the outage.

We acknowledge the disruption this has caused and are working at pace to resolve this. Water tankers are on site for essential needs at 45 Connaught Street. We'll have staff door knocking and arranging for bottled water to be delivered to homes if necessary.

Portaloos have been arranged and will be onsite at approximately 7 pm. Addresses to be notified.

Thank you for your patience — we know this is a difficult time of day to be without water, and we really appreciate your understanding

Our team is working as quickly as possible, and we’ll update you again as soon as water restoration is close. Further updates will be provided as we progress with the repair.

Wellington Water Committee welcomes new board member

Nick Leggett has been appointed to the board of Wellington Water.

Wellington Water’s shareholders confirmed the appointment on Friday 18 March following a thorough selection process.

Leggett was welcomed by Committee Chair Lower Hutt Mayor Campbell Barry.

“We’re excited by Nick’s appointment, his experience and expertise in governance, infrastructure, and local government will contribute to the goals and values we all share for the region,” says Mayor Barry.

Leggett, who was the youngest mayor in New Zealand when elected Mayor of Porirua in 2010, is currently Chief Executive of Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand and holds Director roles at WRC Holdings and Hanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council. He also chairs the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust.

“The work of local government in supplying freshwater to households and businesses, protecting catchments and improving waste and stormwater services has always been vitally important,” says Leggett.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my skills, experience and perspectives to this vital area of service delivery for our region. It’s particularly relevant with looming reform and the opportunities that offers us.”
