Wellington Water, on behalf of Hutt City Council, is currently replacing ageing wastewater pipes and manholes along 135–137 Stokes Valley Road. This important work will improve the performance of the wastewater (sewerage) network and help reduce the likelihood of overflows, particularly during heavy rainfall.

When will work take place?
Construction is currently in prorgess and expected to be completed by July 2026 (provisional timeframe, subject to change). Work will take place Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

What to expect during construction

  • You may notice construction noise, and increased vehicle movements.
  • We will have traffic management in place, with speed restrictions and partial lane closure.
  • Temporary fencing will be in place around the work site, and a diversion in place for
    pedestrians.
  • On street parking will be unavailable on and close to the work site.
  • The bus stop opposite Tui Glen School (9364) will be temporarily moved slightly down the road. We will have clear signage telling you exactly where the new location is.
  • As part of the project, a power pole will be supported. This area will be clearly fenced and secured, following standard safety protocols.

Our team will work to minimise disruption wherever possible, maintain safe access to properties, and carefully manage work to reduce impacts on school pick-ups and drop-offs.

Who is carrying out the work?
Construction will be delivered by Construction Contracts Ltd (CCL) on behalf of Wellington Water.

07/07/26 Crews tracking on schedule

Work is now mostly finished along 135-137 Stokes Valley Road opposite Tui Glen School (see image of recent work below), with new pipes and manholes installed. This will help prevent wastewater (sewerage) blockages and overflows in the area.

A big thanks to local residents and Tui Glen School teachers, and schoolkids for your understanding and flexibility over the past month or so.

Crews are now preparing to move onto the final phase of the project on Glen Road.

We’re expecting to finish up the project in late July/early August.
